Pocket Bikes

Pocket bikes are scaled down versions of racing motorcycles. Some people use the terms pocket and mini bikes interchangeably, but they are not necessarily the same thing. Pocket bicycles originated in Japan, and the first models began to appear in the seventies. They are very small and very fast. These bikes are almost entirely used for racing. They are definitely built for speed. Pocket bicylces are popular bikes on drag racing tracks.

Pocket bicycles are not street legal in many jurisdictions. It is a crime to ride them in areas where they are not street legal. In those areas, they should be kept to private property and the appropriate racing tracks. Anybody who rides them should always use helmets and the appropriate safety gear. These bikes might seem safe because they are so small and close to the ground. If you fall off a pocket model, you won’t be falling far. But that is not entirely accurate. They are still dangerous because of their speed. If you’re considering purchasing one, be sure to research your local laws and the safety requirements. You’ll be glad you did.
